If your car tends to be stored for long periods of time and you experience fuel pump failures, be sure to check the fuel tank strainer. As these cars sit the strainer screens tends to build up with contaminants, the lack of fuel in the pump due to the blockage will destroy a fuel pump relatively quickly. When performing a fuel system service, we recommend that you replace this in tank strainer. Sold individually. 1 necessary per car. Intake leaks can cause a poor idle and will not let your car run smoothly. One of the most common leaks are injector o rings, they dry out and crack letting air pass. An intake leak in this area can be checked by spraying carb cleaner. If the idle changes, you found the leak! First, try the o rings, if a leak persists, replace the sockets. see page 50 for the tools make the job easier.
